Last year, The Chandler Project hosted the inagural Achondroplasia Research Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
Researchers from BioMarin Pharmaceutical and Pfizer, formerly Therachon, gave presentations on their latest research and development focused on achondroplasia.
Dr. William G. Mackenzie from A.I. duPont Hospital for Children at Nemours and Drs. John E. Herzenberg and Shawn C. Standard from the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopredics presented on orthopedic issues related to achondroplasia – spine, limb lengthening for achondroplasia and new techniques of limb lengthening. Representatives from NuVasive demonstrated the use of internal lengthening rods.
Attendees were able to learn directly from the pharmaceutical companies, doctors and medical representatives at the event.
